To understand higher consciousness is to understand Oneness and Nothingness. It is to understand that our perception of physical reality is grossly misleading. That what we see is not what a Seer sees. That what is true and real is outside of the physical world of form and function and buildings and landscapes and physical beings and things. It is a space not of language, but of knowing.
Let me share a basic geometry activity from my days as a mathematics teacher. We can measure a ball otherwise known as a sphere in geometry. Imagine one. There is a formula for the surface area - whether a marble, basketball or planet. There is also a formula for the volume of a sphere. The same is true for any other geometric shape. It is easier to grasp things we can hold, see and measure. Yet, not so much with what is intangible and measureless.
To fully grasp a shape is to observe the space within which it exists. Imagine a circle drawn on a sheet of paper. You have the inner circle, the perimeter and what is beyond the perimeter ~ the space of the paper. What distinguishes the space within and without are the points, equidistant from the center of the circle, that make up what you see as the “circle”. Whatever we see exists within another space such as a jar, a box, a room, a building, or geographic area. To expand, anything and everything exists within the larger space that is the Universe. The Universe is both observable and unobservable and is expanding at varying speeds. We know that the Universe is expanding. Therefore, it is expanding into something. Meaning, that there is space beyond the observable and unobservable into which the Universe is expanding.
To understand that what we see or want to see is limited, is to understand that the sphere, in whatever form it may take, is not just the inner space and the perimeter that define it (that which we can “see”), but also what is beyond the boundaries of the object even if unseen and unknown. To know whether anything is so vast or so minuscule to actually observe or comprehend, does not negate its existence or relevance. Herein lies a working definition of One: Anything in, on, and outside of any particular object or being. In other words, ONE is Everything with the unknown energy that binds it.
As human beings, Oneness is not always easy to grasp. Our separateness diminishes and moves closer to Oneness when we convene with Nature, when we Love unconditionally, or when life deals us a crushing blow. When life events reduce us to Nothingness. It is in these moments, when we seemingly have Nothing, that we reach the very depths of our Being. We are Nothing but the Divine Spark that sustains us. There is no difference between what is within, on or outside of us. We don’t remain in this state of darkness. We call out consciously or unconsciously, reaching for the Light. And, something reaches out and pulls us either back into the physical reality of the human experience or into the heavenly realm.
Our Nothingness can also be expressed mathematically. One divided by increasingly large numbers moves closer and closer to zero: 1/100 = .01, 1/1000 = .001, 1/1,000,000 = .000001. Zero is defined as the absence of all quantity, empty, absolute nothingness. Imagine that in the Big Bang, the innumerable Divine Sparks splintered from ONE into Nothingness. But, nothing exists in isolation: To the ego nothing is isolation or separateness and to ONE nothing is inseparable from the whole.
To see the binary nature of Oneness and Nothingness, is to explore the potential within these opposing forces. In this space is the possibility for expansion and elevation of consciousness. In the Nothingness, human beings see themselves as the center of all. In Oneness, is the discovery of our highest expression of Self as ONE. There are many entry points to higher consciousness. Maintaining the connection necessitates a practice of curiosity, stillness, humility, love, trust, gratitude and surrender. If you are open to the unknown and unseen, both within and without, what is available to you is truly beyond words.
