In every single moment of the experience of Life is the opportunity to evolve. Some moments are more obvious than others. Such as suffering, whether our own or bearing witness to another’s. Imagine in your mind a person who is suffering. What is that experience like for You? Do you feel physical pain, anger, guilt, fear, empathy, sadness, compassion, love, regret? What about when things are just not going your way? A missed train, a child’s tantrum, a cancelled appointment, parking or speeding ticket, unexpected bill or lost personal belonging. Think of a time. What was that experience like for you? How about receiving or hearing a painful, curt or discouraging message? An unkind remark from or to another? Or, a request for help when you are just tapped out. Can you recall that? Have you had the sense of being alone in a world of so many beings or the experience of not being like others. Last, but not least, pure Joy ~ a gut wrenching laugh, an unfathomable connection, an unexpected honor or recognition or simply an indescribable moment. All of these are important signals, reminders, to become present and to see every moment as an opportunity to mine the gold.
There is so much in a moment both within and without. We never fully know another’s experience or purpose in this lifetime. We hardly know our own. But if we pause to experience the moment we begin to see the now as an opportunity to experience life with all of our senses and honor both the uniqueness and commonality of our journeys.
It is not important “why”. All we need to know is that we have the choice to choose how to experience our life and how we witness another’s. This is our free will. We do not choose the experience itself, only our reaction to and integration of the wisdom of the experience. We do not choose who crosses our path, we only choose how we receive them. The concept of free will is the choice of how we interpret and engage with the experience that is Life on Earth.
We can take the most difficult of circumstances and interactions of loss, heartbreak and dis-ease to ask ourselves powerful questions: How am I interacting or reacting? What meaning am I attaching to this way of being? What is important about this? How would I rather experience this moment? How would I rather experience Life? The same is true with the most mundane moments like waiting in a line or queue, staring at our cell phone or lying awake in bed. Every moment in our life is an opportunity to bear witness to ourselves and others. To observe the spark of life in everything. To remember what this life is all about and to move closer to Oneness consciousness.
When we mine the gold, we are choosing the path of evolution. It is not for us to interfere with the learnings of others, rather to honor their innate knowing with reverence for their Journey. Instead, when we seek the nuggets of truth within ourselves, we take ownership over our own evolution. Even the tiniest shifts are worthy of celebration and gratitude as we benefit from the growth of every single being as they do ours. A truly synergistic phenomenon and the key to human evolution. Every time we mine the gold in the moments of our own lives, we contribute to the betterment of mankind by shifting the collective consciousness higher and higher.
